TRON gGmbH – Translational Oncology at the Medical Center of the University Mainz – is a growing biopharmaceutical non-profit organization with the goal to develop highly innovative technologies to address medical needs in the field of cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. TRON was founded in 2010, and is located in Mainz, Germany. TRON works in close cooperation with universities and clinics as well as with regional, national and international research institutions and companies in the pharmaceutical industry.
The TRON team of scientists has a proven track record in renowned journals and has also published a series of its findings in Nature for the last three years running (2017, 2016, 2015).

TRON is currently expanding its multidisciplinary Bioinformatics Unit with exceptional experience in the development of innovative solutions for cancer immunotherapies


  • Connect the various fields of cancer genomics and immunology by using state of the art computer science
  • Collaborative development of novel NGS data analysis tools for personalized medicine in the area of cancer immunotherapy
  • Continuous development as well as implementation of improvements and innovations for our software products
  • Cooperation in a multi-disciplinary team of technicians and scientists to plan, design and run experiments as well as to demonstrate the validity and performance of the software
  • Application of findings in both R&D and clinical projects for biomarkers and immunotherapies with a direct impact on patient health care


  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science or any related field
  • Demonstrable proficiency in the analysis of large cancer ‘omic’ datasets
  • Extensive experience in data analysis as well as in interpretation tools (e.g., bwa, STAR, Kallisto, Salmon, GATK, GSEA, pathway enrichment)
  • Programming experience, preferably in R and Python
  • Know-how in working within a Linux HPC environment
  • Excellent data visualization skills

A deep understanding of cancer biology and immunology as well as any kind of experience in the development of software for the use in regulated areas complete your profile.
